Powering compact mobile robots can a real nuisance.

We have found 18650 type lithium battries to be the best solution.

However, these batteries can potentially be dangerous if they have not handled correctly.

UJ TechnoLab invites all school learners, undergraduates, postgraduate students from all univeristies and international teams and ordinary members of the public as well as qualified and future engineers to enter the AfrikaBot competition.

This independent competition will grow rapidly in the next few years to become South Africa's most important independent robotics challenge for teenagers, and while the standard of robots will improve rapidly from year to year we are adamant that this will remain the robotics competition for those who also want to learn about electronics and build their own robots rather than working with expensive off-the-shelf solutions.
